Abstract

This study conducted the relationship between appearance self-schema, body image, self-esteem, and appearance management activities of college girls in South India. Participants were 418 college going women in South India. The study has revealed that young women who are appearance schematic, have low self-esteem, less satisfied with Body image, high life satisfaction , use cosmetics on routine occasions and are satisfied with their appearance than those with low appearance self-schema. Cosmetics usage on special occasions has no significance with appearance self- schema and it also does not evoke any response on appearance satisfaction.
