This research paper is an exploratory study of retailing space in India. In this study, researchers tried to collect information and collate it in one place and exhibit the glory of retailing in India. This study covers the history and latest formats of retailing in India. Like any other industry this industry has faced a lot of challenges and analyzed the transformation from unorganized to the organized sector of retailing. Margins play a very important role and it is a big volume game and needs very good attention from the government to reap the benefits in terms of taxes and employment. It is concluded that online retailing will be the next wave in the market to create optimization of supply chain cost and improve the quality of life of the customers of the Indian society.
