Abstract

ncreasing functionality of mechatronic products results in complexity that they cannot be effectively designed by a single technical domain. Besides, the ongoing global industry megatrends tending to construct worldwide- connected business activities, the volatile demand on Environmental and sustainability requirements driven by both political and public awareness will raise the complexity within mechatronic systems industry networks. These challenging requirements will force companies to adapt their entire sustainable approach including products, processes, and structures. Due to that fact, Design for sustainability and modeling of mechatronic systems gains importance. This paper presents a sustainable conceptual design for mechatronic systems encompass four steps enabling to elaborate the Design Environmental Matrix for the whole system. A modeling approach for these designed mechatronic systems is afterwards also presented using SysML language and coloured Petri nets.
