Abstract

In an anthropogenic context, emissions from fossil fuels and industry account for over 90% of all CO2 emissions, constituting a serious environmental hazard. Rising CO2 levels are dramatically increasing the risk of global warming. This article examines the new technologies produced globally in the context of Carbon Capture Sequestration/Storage (CCS/S), as well as their technological maturity and potential for large-scale application. Furthermore, some commercial behemoths have patented a few essential innovations demonstrating the potential in CCS/S optimization, which leads to far more efficient and reduced energy penalty on a big scale. To date, only the United States, Canada, and China have deployed a large number of CCS/S projects. It was also discovered that CCS/S is the most promising green technology among others, although the development of Cryogenic Carbon Capture (CCC) is the most recent among all existing a higher scope of research possibility due to further technological maturity required.
