In this article, a comprehensive review of DC-DC converters implemented with different control algorithms for achieving high efficiency is presented. The brief literature review will enable us to find an efficient converter and its corresponding algorithm. To overcome the energy deficiency problem, renewable energy resources such as fuel cells and solar cells play an important role. In renewable energy applications, highefficiency DC-DC converters act as a challenging factor in providing better-regulated output. The output voltage of the converters can be controlled by linear or non-linear controllers. The traditional controllers (PI/PID) are used to reduce oscillations and to improve the loop gain. Non-linear controllers like fuzzy controllers and sliding mode controllers provide fast transient and stable steady-state responses, even though variations are present in input, reference, and output voltages. The detailed description of the converters and controllers is discussed with suitable diagrams and expressions.
