Abstract

Initially the term Circular Economy was defined and coined in 1988 in the Economics of Natural Resources. Circular Economy for Indian Construction and Infrastructure Industries (CEICI) is a systemic approach for development of businesses, society, and the environment simultaneously. Generally In linear model the policy 'take-make-waste' is followed. Circular economy use regenerative design by applying and targeting the methods, principles, strategies to reduce the usage of finite resources. CEICI focus on 4 main challenges are climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. Circular economy implement its key element by one hand through 4Rs strategies of reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling in manufacturing side and by the other hand through application side strategies of sharing, maintaining, upgrading and leasing. These strategies are to be utilized in existing materials and products and facility as long as possible. This article deals about the circular economy and how it could be implemented in Construction and Infrastructure industries.
