Abstract

Today’s businesses are very worried about environmental issues because many corporate activities could harm the environment. Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) practices approaches have increased in popularity in this field. However, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) are often less inclined to adopt environmental practices compared to large companies. Hence, anchored on the natural Resource-Based View Theory, this study aims to investigate the mediating roles of GHRM practices in the link between green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO) and Sustainable Business Performance (SBP). The comprehensive research model developed in this study is empirically tested using data garnered from 168 managers of Jordanian SMEs. Partial least square structural equation modeling is applied as the methodological technique to test all the hypothesized relationships. Results of the study indicate that GEO has a direct significant positive impact on GHRM practices but not SBP. However, through GHRM practices (mediating variable), GEO tends to have a significant impact on all SBP dimensions (environmental, financial, and social performance). This study offers fresh empirical evidence by developing a unified research model that validates the specific mediation role of GHRM practices between GEO and SBP. In the end, the theoretical and managerial implications, limitations of the current study, and future research directions have been discussed.
