Abstract

Prospective teacher education programs that have been eager to achieve skills among instructors have a bearing on the quality of teachers and instruction. Developing critical teacher competencies during training programs is essential to prepare future teachers for the classroom. The main objective of this paper is to explore the Pre-Service Teacher Education Program for the development of Sustainable Competencies. As part of this research, sustainable competencies are those competencies that the prospective teacher retains over a long period and in terms of knowledge and abilities (with practices perspectives that what they learned and practice). In addition, how do these programs and their execution show the effectiveness of teacher education programs? The study was descriptive, and a semi-structured interview protocol was used to analyze the purposefully selective Prospective teachers’ knowledge, opinions, and recommendations about Sustainable competencies. Thematic analysis technique was used to explore the competencies which lead prospective teachers towards sustainability. It was highlighted from the study that the prospective teachers are preparing themselves for sustainability. The main focus is on core competencies, and if the students learn these competencies, mainly time management and problem-solving skills, they will become successful and effective teachers during semester or course of study. This study recommended that It is more essential to consider that teachers must be trained and master in pedagogical, technological, and content skills before entering the actual field.
